eer.. they are rather bad..
but there is an improvement.. =x

and i did pass my maths and science this time round..

but the book shows su how human nature is truly more frightening than any other scary creepy things on earth..

it is called GROTESQUE by Natsuo Kirino..
she wrote the book OUT too.. it is a bestseller i think..
i am so going to get that book too..
she actually writes in japanese.. these are translations of her books..
she generated great reviews..
superb writing.. but i hate it..
cos it made mehate myself.. i think most people will have different feelings after reading the book.. yea..

Child VS AdultThe second theme of the four major themes of The English Teacher is child vs adult. This theme appeared quite late in the story, following the appearance of an inspiring character, the Headmaster. This was after the death of Susila. The Headmaster was the one who brought about this theme to the readers. Krishna first met the Headmaster when he brought Leela to the school. He was already very intrigued during the first meeting. He had said there and then that he is going to 'make a profound contact in life'. The Headmaster's way of dressing and talking struck him as unusual and Krishna felt attraction towards him, he wanted to know more about this man. The second meeting was what really spark off the theme of child vs adult. The Headmaster was one who thought highly of children and poorly of adults. He had said before in the first meeting that the classrooms in his school was not for the children to learn in but the adults. He feels that they are the 'real gods on earth' and that the adults can't enter their life because they are unqualified. It can be said that he is in awe of the children. He points out several facts about children vs adult. Children too have quarrels like the adults but they don't bear grudges against each other. They just quarrel and then they would forget about it the next moment and play together. Unlike the adults who bear every single grudge and not willing to forget the quarrel. Children are more willing to forgive and forget compared to adults who have learnt long ago that forgiving and forgetting would mean that they would be hurt a second time. That is also why adults do not 'speak plainly'. They cover up what they want to say with layers and layers of lies or sweet words. The children on the other hand just speak whatever they think without thinking of the consequences. They speak simply, spouting whatever they think. Something that can never be managed in the adult world, where everyone is overly polite, claiming to like something just for the sake of being polite when they actually dislike that thing alot. The child on the other hand would just tell the other party that he/she does not like the thing. That is the second difference between child vs adult. The level of honesty. The child able to speak honestly without any qualms while the adult holds back and may even lie about his/her real intentions.

man utd lost to milan..
and for the first time in a very long time..
i shed tears for them..
they tried.. they just weren't good enough..
milan were strong.. their defence superb..
they had no loopholes where man utd had huge holes in..
vidic couldn't keep up with kaka..
wes brown was just not good enough..
and none of our players apart from ron didn't lose the ball to milan players..
we couldn't adapt..
that was clear from the first whistle..
there were only minimum chances.. luck was eluding us..
roon was nowhere to be seen and scholes was losing his temper..
we tried.. we really tried.. but we couldn't win..
not even a single goal.. they were that good..
the defence, midfield.. very very fantastic..
whenever we were at the penalty area.. the ball would be taken away from us..
our passes served them delight and us agony..
rarely a pass met its intended target.. their defence swarmed..
we couldn't pass through it..
tight corners only saw ronaldo coming out with the ball..
our defence were not even a third of theirs..
shaky.. without ferdinand.. and brown is just not stable..
sigh..
there's nothing we could do.. we were rendered helpless..
the milan fans were celebrating at the third goal..
but this defeat is one i accept gladly.. milan was good..
and we weren't.. so we lost..
now.. i do hope they will go on to clinch the title..
i will root for them against liverpool..
their playing style last night appealed to me..
compared to the dry playing style of liverpool..
if milan can be even better than last night.. there is no reason for them not to clinch the title..

please don't continue reading from here on.. it is all lit stuff.. za ramblings on the english teacher.. xDAcademic VS Law Of LifeOne of the four major themes of The English Teacher is academic vs law of life. This was firmly drilled into Krishna when Susila passed away. It was painfully obvious to him that no matter what they taught you in books, all the theories, it all came to naught when faced with the law of life. The law in life does not follow any rules much less rules in the books. What they books say will happen may not be what will happen in the 'real world'. This truth was presented to Krishna when the doctor had claimed that typhoid is the very fever that they should not fear, as it 'follow the rules' and that it will go away as long we 'understand it ways'. The doctor kept insisting that typhoid is not a fever to be feared. Krishna believed him, for he is the doctor, the one who is supposed to hold all the correct answers. However, everything proved to be wrong. Susila died in the end from typhoid, the one fever that was said to 'follow a timetable and shows a great regard for those who understand its ways'. In this case, the doctor represents the academic world and the typhoid the law of life. It does not follow any rules much less rules set by doctors written in books. it takes life as and when it likes and nothing can dictate it. After this painful lesson, Krishna learnt one thing, never to trust the books and made sure that Leela didn't trust it either. To him, the most bitter and painful be known first, so that there won't be any bad shocks later. From the academic world that he has always been in, he was given a rude and rough shove to the 'real world' where nothing can be predicted and no one is protected. The safe world of books and literature was futile in saving his wife from death. Despite all the promises about the fever, Susila still died. He frowns upon Leela listening to stories from her grandfather as he feels that stories always have a good, happy and predictable endings, leading children from young to believe that all things will come to a good end when it actually does not and that life is like the book, predictable to be good. He does not want Leela to follow his footsteps and be misled by all that is written in the books. After Susila's death, Krishna feels that his greatest task in life is to live without illusions. He also wants to ensure that leela too does not live without illusions. Perhaps to him, he has been living in illusion all this time. the perfect house for the family, the perfect family life with no troubles. He did not at the least expect this. He had not expected Susila to die, leaving him all alone with a child to take care of. Her death shattered all the dreams he had held for the future, plans that he had made when he received news of her coming to live with him. now, he feels foolish that he has even made all those plans, foolish that he had for so long been taken in by what the books said. He chose not to lie to Leela when she asked when will her grandmother be back, for he believes that as long as we expect nothing more than the 'barest truths and facts of life', then we would no longer be shocked by 'the twists and turns of fate', just as he was. He seems to be somehow trying to protect Leela from the raw pain that he has had to suffer during the time when Susila was announced dead. He wants to train her to know all the truths and be numb to pain. He does not want her to be taken in by the lies of the academic world, he is trying to expose her at an early age to the 'real world', a world where no theories can save you if the law of life has already dictated your fate. He is preparing her for all the brutalities that he believes life is going to throw at her. This brings in the theme of predictability vs unpredictability. The academic world is one where everything is predictable. There is no major changes in the world of books, if there is this theory, then most or if not all books will agree on the theory. It will be rare for a book to disagree or prove the theory wrong. However, RK Narayan is trying to tell that to us, that the law of life is unpredictable where the academic world is predictable, that no matter how many books we read, how many books we consult telling us that typhoid is a predictable fever, one that can be cured as long we follow the instructions stated, the law of life contradicts it totally. The law of life shows that no matter how we may follow the rules and let the patient take the medicine as the doctor instructed, the patient still died. It will leave people in shock if we are not prepared for it. That is the major difference between the academic world and the law of life. One is mechanical, follow all the rules and you will get the expected result, however the other tells us otherwise. You may be following all the rules, but you may not get the end result. That is life. It has it own laws and it abides by no other.
